Overview of GVWP Programs for Schools and Educators
GVWP utilizes grants, partnerships, and community donations to serve classroom teachers, school administrators, and other educators in numerous ways, including:
School Partnerships: Site or district leaders draw on GVWP expertise to procure grants and support long-term staff development. Super Saturday Seminars: This series of low-cost workshops is offered during the academic school year at CSUS campuses in Stockton and Turlock. Book Study Groups: Teachers read research-based books and meet to discuss strategies for instruction and assessment. Demonstration Labs: Expert leaders guide teachers through readings, observations, discussions, and hands-on interactions with students at summer workshops. Technology Courses: Teachers learn how technology can energize and transform classroom writing programs. Book Publishing Courses: Teachers discover fast, easy ways to connect writers with larger audiences through publishing. Other Courses for Teachers: GVWP offers a wide variety of courses where teachers can expand their professional knowledge and earn units through CSU Stanislaus. Invitational Leadership Institute: This 120-hour institute transforms excellent teachers into exemplary mentors who are prepared to share their expertise with others. Summer Mini-Institute: Aspiring leaders hone their knowledge and skills with one week of intensive research and writing. Family Literacy Nights: GVWP Teacher Consultants work with their site colleagues to create special events for parents, grandparents, and kids. |
